Atlanta Meet Recaps - 7/29
On Weather and The Easily Scared
We had a blast on Friday with not one, but TWO Atlanta Grown-Up Swimming meets taking place. With the North Division in action at Roswell and the South Division at Smyrna, it feels like some of you could use a quick recap of how summer weather in Georgia works. Storms roll through and they keep on rolling. We made it through the meet even with a bunch of chickens no-showing. If everyone decided to stay home because the weather looked a bit iffy three hours before an event then no one would do anything. Now that I think about it, that might not be the worst thing in the world. Fewer people means less traffic…maybe y’all are on to something
Editors Note: you are not on to something, please come to Grown-Up Swimming events. Please. I have so many wonderful hats, shirts, magnets, koozies, and stickers that you can only get at your next Grown-Up Swimming meet. I’m running out of room to store them. Everywhere I look its Grown Up Swimming merch as far as the eye can see. Please, there’s only going to be more once we start making the All Star Meet shirts. I mean we’re having a contest to design the shirts. All people have to do is pull together a design and send it to brian@grownupswimming by 11:59pm on Sunday 8/14.
Besides the usual swimming fun, we had the best food trucks of the year, and if this week was just a teaser of the drama that could unfold at the Championship of the World of Atlanta meet, then we’re all in for a treat.
North Division
Individual results are cool and all, and if that’s your thing you can find them here. But the team results are what really get people going:
Roswell Rapids — 1874
Medlock Bridge — 1194
Piranha Mamas — 850.5
Martin’s Landing — 782.5
Mill Glenn — 589
BH Grown-Ups — 77
Independent — 40
Maria's Minions — 30
Congratulations to Roswell (remember everyone - home pool advantage is real). Can’t wait to see you at the Atlanta All-League Championships
South Division
Again, individual results, no “i” in team, all that fun stuff. You can find that here. But I think the team scores are way more interesting, especially for this meet
Chastain Park —1713.5
Garden Hills — 1713
Glenwood Park — 927.67
Schwimmer Rays — 920.5
Winding Vista — 877
Maria’s Minions — 658
Georgia Tech — 329
Buckhead Aquatics — 269
Smyrna Grown-Ups — 176
Ansley Sharks — 30
Congratulations Chastain, but keep an eye out for Garden Hills, that 0.5 point margin of victory could swing either way next time, anything could happen
